臺灣特有種，原產於臺灣中、高海拔山區，常見生長於崩塌地，針狀葉五針一束，是外觀上的重要特徵。與長相近似的黑松比較，五葉松的針葉較為纖細柔美，尤其是新葉萌發時色澤青翠深淺渲染相當美麗，是庭園造景製作盆景的重要角色，可以營造典雅的風情。木質優良可作為建材、家具及造紙，葉片還能打汁飲用或入藥，毬果亦可提煉為芳香精油。

Taiwan White Pine is endemic and native to Taiwan’s middle and high-altitude mountain areas, commonly seen in the landslide grounds. Five needle-like leaves formed a bunch is its important feature. Compared with the similar-looking Black Pine, Taiwan White Pine’s needles are slenderer and delicate. When the new leaves sprout, the green color in different shades is stunningly beautiful. Because of these features, the plant plays an important role in the gardening of bonsai to create an elegant vibe. The quality wood can be used as material of building furniture and paper making. The leaves can also be juiced as a drink or used as medicine and the fruits can be refined into aromatic essential oils.

松屬常綠喬木，原產臺灣中、高海拔山區。樹皮縱裂為鱗片狀。一年生的幼枝紅褐色。針狀葉5針一束，較黑松的針葉纖細。雌雄同株異花。毬果圓錐狀橢圓形，通常3~4個聚生。開花期春季，毬果成熟於隔年秋季。

An evergreen tree in the genus Pinus, indigenous to Taiwan's middle and high-altitude mountains. Vertically fissured scales are developed on the bark. Annual young branches appear reddish brown. Needle leaves are borne in clusters of five which are thinner than that of Black Pine. Flowers are monoecious. It produces oval-shaped cones usually with three to four in a cluster. Bloom in spring and cones ripe in the autumn of the following year.

全日照溫暖環境，涼爽、高濕度氣候有助於生長。根部忌積水，土壤必須排水良好。修剪管理方式與黑松類似。

It favors full-sun, warm and cool environment. High humidity climate helps the growth. Roots area can’t be waterlogged, and the soil must be well drained. Trimming method is like Black Pine.

樹形姿態優美，適合中式或日式庭院中作為主題樹使用，亦是製作盆景的良材。木材品質優良，適合作為建材、家具、造紙等與採取松脂用。葉片加檸檬汁與蜂蜜打成汁，具有多種營養成份與清爽的風味。

The tree postures gracefully, suitable for use as a feature tree in a Chinese or Japanese courtyard; also, a good material for making bonsai. The timber is a high-quality material for construction, making furniture, paper, etc. The leaves can be blended with lemon juice and honey to make a refreshing drink with multiple nutrients.
