楓屬落葉喬木，臺灣特有種，分佈臺灣北部山區。主幹直立，枝條近於光滑。掌狀3淺裂葉，紙革質，對生，全緣或波緣，葉基呈圓形，葉背灰白，落葉前變黃或紅褐色。繖房花序頂生，兩性花，花小呈黃綠色。花期3~4月。翅果水平展開，熟時黃褐色。7~9月為熟果期。

A deciduous tree in the genus Acer, endemic to Taiwan, distributed in the mountains of northern Taiwan. The plant has an erect trunk and nearly smooth branchlets.Palmate leaves with 3 lobes, paper leathery, opposite, entire or wavy on the edge, leaf base round, leaf back gray. Blades turn yellow or reddish brown before falling. Corymbs terminal and bisexual, flowers tiny and yellowish green. Flowering from March to April. The samaras with flat stretching wings turn yellowish brown when mature, ripening from July to September.

全日照或半日照環境，幼樹有耐陰性，耐寒性強，喜溫暖濕潤氣候，適生於偏酸或中性土壤，根系較耐濕。冬季落葉期可以進行整枝修剪。播種、扦插或高壓法繁殖。

The plant enjoys full-sun or partial sun environments, saplings are tolerant to shade. The plant has strong cold tolerance, favors warm and humid climates, suitable to grow in acid or neutral soil.
