釣樟屬常綠小喬木，分佈全省低海拔山地矮林內，南部乾燥向陽坡地較多。枝條多數而細長，嫩莖葉被毛。葉片革質，卵形至長橢圓形，表面光澤無毛，葉背粉白色，主脈及側脈皆被毛，網狀細脈。雌雄異株，雄花腋生5~6朵，乳黃白色，簇生呈繖形花序；雌花子房倒卵形；花期夏、秋之際。果實球形，熟時由綠轉紅。果期秋、冬之際。

An evergreen small tree in the genus Lindera, distributed in the low-altitude mountain dwarf forests island wide as well as dry and sunward hillside in the southern Taiwan. The plant produces dense and slender branches; young stems are covered with hair. Leaves are leathery, ovate to oblong, glossy and glabrous on the surface, pinkish-white on the leaf underside, both the midrib and lateral veins are villous. Dioecious, male flowers numbered 5 to 6, yellow-white, clustered umbels; female flowers ovary is obovate; flowering in summer and autumn. The fruit is spherical and turns from green to red when mature, fruiting in autumn and winter.

喜乾燥向陽之地，土壤以富含腐植質之砂質壤土為佳，排水需良好，喜全日照溫暖環境。以種子繁殖為主，亦可用高壓法或扦插法繁殖。耐修剪，易分枝。

It favors dry and sunward locations with humus-rich sandy loam and good drainage. Propagated mainly by seeding, also by air layering and cutting. Resistant to pruning and easy to branch.

可做庭園景觀樹、綠籬。民間使用根作創傷、解毒、止血用草藥。

It can be used as a garden landscape tree and hedge. The roots can be used as folk medicine for healing wounds, detoxification, and as astringent.
