茶馬椰子屬常綠灌木，原產中美洲墨西哥至宏都拉斯。株高2~3m。直立莖叢生，形似竹竿，一回羽狀全裂葉片，長1m、寬15~40cm，披針形裂片20~40片。雌雄異株，穗狀花序，長20~40cm，花序軸初生綠色，後轉為橘紅色。黃色花微小。果實黑色。開花結果期夏至秋季。

An evergreen shrub in the genus Chamaedorea, native to Central America from Mexico to Honduras. Plant height 2~3m. Erect stems clumped, resembling bamboo poles. Leaves 1m long and 15-40cm wide, unipennate, lobed into 20-40 lanceolate lobes. Dioecious, spike, 20-40cm long, inflorescence axis initially green, then turning orange-red with age. Flowers yellow and tiny, fruits black. Flowering and fruiting from summer to autumn.

全日照或半日照溫暖環境，戶外使用砂質壤土、壤土種植，室內盆栽可使用培養土種植。介質略乾或葉片無光澤時澆水。每季施用一次長效性綜合肥料。隨時修剪枯莖葉。繁殖使用播種法為主。

The plant thrives in full-sun or partial-sun and warm environments. Use sandy loam and loam soil for outdoor planting, and culture soil for indoor potted planting. Water when the soil slightly dries or the leaves look dull. Apply a slow-release compound fertilizer once a season. Prune dead stems and leaves at any time. Propagated mainly from seeds.

小型棕櫚科植物，略具耐陰性，可作為室內綠化盆栽欣賞。戶外可種植於陽光下或略有遮蔭處，例如大樹下或牆蔭處，單株叢植或列植為綠籬。樹姿疏落有緻，花序成熟時花果亦可賞。

The small palm plant is slight tolerant to shade, suitable to grow as a potted foliage houseplant or outdoors with direct light or a slightly shady area, such as in the shade of trees or a wall, single planting or row planting as a hedge. With sparse and graceful tree posture as well as beautiful flowers and mature fruits, the whole plant has high ornamental values.
