花燭屬多年生草本，原產南美洲東北及中部。地生或附生。莖短縮，有發達的氣生根。葉蓮座狀排列，革質倒披針形至橢圓形，長40~100cm，寬10~50cm，葉緣略波浪狀。褐色佛焰苞卵形，褐色肉穗花序長條形，果實紅色。開花期夏至秋季。

A perennial herb in the genus Anthurium, native to northeastern and central South America. Terrestrial or epiphyte. Stems shortened, with well-developed aerial roots. Leaves arranged in rosettes, leathery, oblanceolate to oval, 40-100cm long, 10-50cm wide, and slightly undulated on the margins. Spathe brown and ovate, spadix sturdy and light brown. Berries red. Flowering from summer to autumn.

半日照或全日照溫暖環境。介質使用排水良好的培養土或椰纖，混入椰塊或樹皮，以形成排水透氣良好的狀態，促進根部生長。略具耐旱性，介質乾才澆水，春至秋每季施用一次長效性綜合肥料。繁殖使用播種法為主。

The plant prefers partial-sun and warm environment. Use well-drained culture soil or coconut coir mixed with coconut pieces or bark for better drainage and aeration to promote root growth. Slightly drought-tolerant, water only when the medium is dry, and apply a slow-release compound fertilizer once every season from spring to autumn. Propagated mainly from seeding.

葉片姿態奇特，株型類似山蘇，在庭園設計應用可以取代山蘇作為襯景材料。成株容易開花結果，紅色種子能吸引鳥類取食。

The peculiar leaves resemble that of Bird’s-nest fern so it can be a substitute of Bird’s-nest ferns as a background plant in garden design applications. Adult plants are easy to bloom and fruit, the red seeds can lure birds to feed.
