根節蘭屬宿根性草本，廣布南亞、東亞、東南亞、大洋洲、澳洲，臺灣低、中海拔山區亦有分佈。地下有叢生假球莖，狹長橢圓形至卵狀橢圓形葉，葉緣有波紋。總狀花序，每花序有花30~80朵，花徑約3cm，唇瓣3深裂，中裂片再深裂為2，花後有距，花白色或淺乳黃色，花期6~8月。花序盛開時排列整齊的花朵宛如白色繡球。

A perennial herb in the genus Calanthe, widely distributed in South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania, Australia, as well as low- and mid-altitude mountains in Taiwan. Underground pseudocorms clumped, leaves elongated oval to ovate oval with undulated margins. Racemes, each inflorescence bears 30-80 flowers, about 3cm in diameter. The labellum has 3 lobes and the middle one is deeply lobed into two. Spurs borne on the back of flowers, white or light-creamy yellow, flowering from June to August. When the inflorescence is in full bloom, the neatly arranged flowers resemble white hydrangea.

半日照溫暖環境，屬地生蘭，栽培介質以壤土混合腐葉土、泥炭土等材料以增加有機質。介質略乾就澆水。春、秋兩季施用一次長效性綜合肥料。繁殖使用分株法。

The terrestrial orchid thrives in a warm and partial-sun environment and prefers media such as loam mixed with mulch and peat soil to increase organic matter. Water once the soil slightly dries. Apply a slow-release compound fertilizer once in spring and autumn. Propagated by division.

花朵形似白紙人，常吸引人仔細觀詳欣賞。花序上的花朵繁盛、觀賞期長，加上生長強健，適合做為遮蔭地的地被植物使用，在建築遮蔭處與中庭等場域能有良好表現。農業改良場使用本種與其他花色的根節蘭雜交，推廣做為景觀植物使用。

The white flowers are shaped like humans, often attract people to admire closely. During flowering seasons, the flourishing blossom and the sturdy growth makes it a perfect ground cover plant grown in shady spaces in buildings and atriums. Agricultural improvement farms use this species to hybridize with other colored Calanthes for the use as landscaping plants.
