團扇仙人掌屬多肉植物，原產墨西哥，因適應性強且無性繁殖容易而入侵澳洲、北非等地。株高約40~60㎝。扁平的肉質莖圓形或橢圓形，每段莖長約6~15cm，寬約4~12cm。莖上有密佈的刺座，每個刺座有細小的芒刺。花黃色，夏季開花，每朵花僅一天壽命。

A succulent plant of the genus Opuntia, native to Mexico and now invasive in Australia, North Africa and etc. because of its strong traits of adaptability and asexual reproduction. Plant height 40 - 60 cm, stem round or oval-shaped, flat and fleshy, 6 - 15 cm long and 4 - 12 cm wide. The stems densely packed with areoles bearing fine barbed bristles. Flowers yellow, bloom in summer and only last for one day.

栽培：全日照通風環境下可生長良好，日照充足時可促進開花。炎夏時切勿讓植株曝曬，以免產生日燒等曬傷跡象。為了防止爛根等情形，需採用排水透氣的介質。高溫期生長；低溫期生長停滯，可節水以助越冬。扦插繁殖容易。芒刺容易刺入皮膚中，園藝操作應小心防範。

The plant grows well with full-sun and good ventilation. Sufficient sun exposure can promote flowering, however, exposure in high summer may cause signs of scorch, such as sunburn. Plant in draining and breathable soil to avoid root rotting. A summer grower slows down in winters, reduce water use to help it overwinter. Easily propagated by cutting. Beware of the barbed bristles when doing garden chores as they can easily penetrate into the skin.

造型可愛，有時像兔子或米老鼠，是最具代表性的仙人掌之一，形象常出現於繪畫中。適合單株種植或多株叢植，也可以與其他多肉植物組合種植。園藝品種多，有白色芒刺與紅褐色芒刺的品種。

The adorable shape is sometimes like a rabbit or Mickey Mouse, an iconic cactus and often present in paintings. Suitable to be planted alone or in clusters, or in a mix with other succulents. A lot of cultivars available in the market, like the ones with white and red-brown barbed bristles.
