萬代蘭屬多年生草本。原生種約50餘種，廣泛分佈南亞至澳洲北部熱帶氣候區。單莖性附生蘭，以粗壯的氣根攀附於樹幹或岩壁上生長。長條形至棒狀葉二列互生，葉通常多肉質或厚革質。總狀花序腋生；花有色鮮明的花瓣，脣瓣通常較小。

A perennial herb in the genus Vanda which has more than 50 native species widely distributed from South Asia to the tropical regions in northern Australia. It’s a single-stem epiphytic orchid growing on tree trunks or rock slides with strong aerial roots. Leaves elongate or rod-shaped, alternate in two rows, often fleshy or thick leathery. Racemes axillary; flowers with brightly colored petals, lips usually smaller.

全日照至半日照溫暖環境，是典型的附生蘭。氣生根會不斷從莖上長出，可裸根懸吊於露天栽培或繫綁附樹栽培而不須使用介質。耐旱性強，久旱不雨時才澆水，高溫期頻繁澆水可加速生長，低溫期應節水。

The typical epiphytic orchid grows well in a warm environment with full sun or partial sun. The aerial roots continue to emerge from the stems, and also can be suspended in open-field cultivation or epiphytic on a tree without using medium. Highly drought-tolerant, water only during prolonged drought period; water frequently in hot seasons to accelerate the growth, and cut water use in cold seasons.

生長強健、栽培粗放的蘭花，只要放置在合適位置，通常不須費心照顧就能開花。奇特株形與碩大的花朵，在花藝或組合盆栽設計應用上效果都很顯著。

A robust and extensively cultivated orchid, it can bloom without care as long as placed in a right location. With a peculiar plant shape and showy flowers, it’s an excellent material used in the design of floral art and mixed planters.
