石斛蘭是蘭科植物中成員數量龐大的家族，其中普遍栽培的秋石斛蘭，是由原產於新幾內亞至澳洲的蝴蝶石斛、羚羊石斛等種類雜交育種而成，在熱帶氣候區可以全年開花，臺灣開花期主要在秋天而得名，曾經推廣作為父親節的代表花。生長強健、容易栽培，很適合居家種植，花朵是重要插花材料，尤其摘下花朵製作胸花，更是代表性的應用方法。

Dendrobium is a big genus in the family Orchidacea. The commonly cultivated Dendrobium Phalaenopsis is a hybrid of Dendrobium phalaenopsis Fitzg. and Dendrobium antennatum which are native to New Guinea and Australia. In tropical climates it can flower throughout the year, but only bloom in autumn in Taiwan, hence the Chinese name. It was once popular as the representative flower of Father's Day. With features like sturdiness, easy to cultivate, it’s very suitable to cultivate at home. The flowers are important arrangement materials and the typical application is to use the flowers to make corsages.

石斛蘭屬多年生草本，是由原產於新幾內亞至澳洲數種蝴蝶石斛、羚羊石斛等近緣原種雜交育種而來的系統，因為在夏秋季開花而得名。複莖性著生蘭，根莖短。圓柱形假球莖叢生，堅硬直挺，長可達1m，莖端互生厚革質葉。總狀花序自近莖端的葉腋伸出，花數可達20朵。花瓣寬大美麗，通常不具香味。

A perennial herb in the genus Dendrobium, this is a hybrid of from several closely related species native to New Guinea and Australia, such as Dendrobium phalaenopsis Fitzg. and Dendrobium antennatum. Well-known for its flowering in summer and autumn. A multi-stemmed epiphytic orchid, rhizome short. Pseudobulb cylindrical and clumped, stiff and erect, up to 1m long, with thick leathery leaves alternating at the ends of stems. Racemes protruding from the leaf axils near the stem, and bearing up to 20 flowers. Petals large and beautiful, usually not scented.

全日照環境下可生長良好，喜好溫暖氣候，冬季低溫期生長會停滯。適合用蛇木屑、椰纖、樹皮等材料種植，介質乾就須澆水。高溫期可於每週噴施一次液體肥料。繁殖可使用分株或扦插法。

The plant grows well under full-sun conditions in warm climate and stops growing in cold winter. It can be grown in tree fern chips, moss, coconut fiber, bark and other air-permeable loose materials, and needs watered when the medium dries. Spray liquid fertilizers once a week during hot seasons. Propagated from ramets or cuttings.

生長強健，可直接繫綁於樹幹上仿自然生長型態種植。盆栽可單盆欣賞或組合為花禮。切花應用廣泛，可用於花藝設計、花束或將花摘下製作胸花。

The robust plant can be fixed on tree trunks to mimic the natural growth; or enjoyed as a single potted plant or a mixed planter for gift-giving. It’s a versatile cut flower material widely used in floral design, bouquets or making corsages.
