小鳳梨屬多年生草本，原產巴西。株型短小，莖短縮。葉從短莖上簇生，密集排列呈蓮座狀。葉線狀披針形至闊披針形，葉端銳尖，基部抱合於短莖上，葉緣波浪狀有鋸齒，葉表中肋與葉緣有褐至綠色縱條紋，葉背有銀白色鱗片。頭狀花序頂生，花白色。開花後植株會逐漸凋亡，長出裔芽取代。

The plant enjoys warm climates and produces bright leaves with strong sunlight. Water the medium before it dries, and spray water frequently in summer to increase the air humidity. It’s not picky on soils as long as they are well-drained; tolerant to drought and resistant to wind. Propagated by pups.

色彩鮮明，適合小品盆栽或組合盆栽，耐旱特性也適用於綠牆及綠雕。
