是臺灣原生種月桃的斑葉園藝栽培種，葉片上有黃白色羽狀斑紋，種植於庭園中相當美觀。比起郊野中的綠葉原生種，斑葉種比較不容易開花。月桃的根莖、葉片、花苞、種子等部位都有怡人的芳香，可以調味或食用。植物體內含有十幾種酚類化合物，具有保健胃腸、舒緩、鎮定的功能，提煉精油用途更廣，可以製作食品、藥物或美容產品。

Variegated Shell Flower is a variegated horticultural cultivar of Shell Ginger, a native species of Taiwan. With yellow and white feather-like markings on the leaves, the beautiful plant is a great ornamental in gardens. Variegated leaf species are less likely to flower than native green leaf ones in the countryside. The rhizomes, leaves, buds, and seeds have a pleasant fragrance, they can be used as seasonings or food material. The plant contains a dozen phenolic compounds and have health-care, soothing, and calming functions. 月桃屬多年生常綠草本植物，是月桃的斑葉園藝栽培種。具地下塊莖，假莖發達叢生。互生廣披針形或披針形葉；葉鞘長，互相包被成假莖。總狀花序下垂，總苞片白色，白色花有黃色脣瓣。蒴果，球形橙紅色，不規則開裂，露出種子。根莖、葉、種子等部位有芳香味。

A perennial evergreen herb in the genus Alpinia. This is a variegated cultivar of shell ginger. With underground tubers; pseudostems well-developed and tufted. Leaves alternate, broadly lanceolate or lanceolate; leaf sheaths long and wrapping each other into pseudostems. Raceme drooping, involucre white, flowers white with yellow labella. Capsules spherical, orange-red, irregularly dehiscent to reveal seeds. The roots, leaves and seeds are fragrant.

全日照、半日照或遮蔭均可，如欲葉色鮮明則需要充足日照。栽培土質以富含有機質的黏質壤土為佳。高濕度環境可以促進生長。風大之處會使葉片破損，應栽植於避風處。以分株繁殖。

It can grow in full-sun, partial-sun, or shady conditions. If a brighter foliage is desired, full sun is required. For cultivation, clay loam rich in organic matter is preferred. Humidity can promote the growth. The leaves are subject to damage of strong wind; a leeward spot is advised. Propagated by ramets.
