紅裡蕉屬多草本，原產巴西，原種葉片綠色，此為葉片有白、粉紅、淺綠色斑紋的園藝品種。株高0.5~1.5m，有短莖或長伸的莖。互生長卵形葉，長25~45cm，寬6~12cm，葉背紅色。頂生圓錐花序，花萼紅色，花白色。花梗常形成高芽，藉以繁殖。

A perennial herb in the genus Stromanthe, native to Brazil. The parent variety bears green leaves while this cultivar produces white, pink and pale green markings on the leaves. Plant height 0.5-1.5 m, with short or elongated stems. Leaves alternate and ovate, 25-45 cm long and 6-12 cm wide, red below. Panicles terminal, with red calyx and white flowers. Pedicels often form high rising buds for reproduction.

適合半日照環境。於全日照下在夏季烈日曝曬時容易曬傷。喜溫暖濕潤，怕低溫乾燥，喜微酸性土壤。土壤以排水好、肥沃疏鬆的腐植土或培養土為佳。以分株、高芽扦插或組織培養繁殖。

It’s suitable for partial-sun conditions and prone to sunburn when exposed to direct sun in hot summer. A lover of warmth and humidity, not cold hardy and not drought-tolerant. It grows best in well-drained, fertile, loose and slightly acidic humic soils or potting soils. Propagated by ramets, top-bud cuttings or tissue culture.

斑葉品種葉色鮮明，適合與其它熱帶植物搭配設計，營造豐富多彩的庭園景觀。花序可以作為切花材料。

This variegated variety produces highly ornamental foliage, and is suitably planted with other tropical plants to create colorful garden landscapes. The inflorescences can be used as material of cut flowers.
