開花時抽出長長的花梗，頂頭花苞初綻時，像隻優雅的白鶴。這白色的部位稱為苞片，是芋頭、姑婆芋、火鶴花等天南星科植物的特徵，不是真正的花瓣。中間像玉米筍的是花序，表面乳頭狀凸起物才是真正的花朵。耐陰性好，可土種也可水栽，適合室內或庭園遮蔭地方種植。花、葉都有觀賞價值，也是具有淨化室內空氣的主要植物。

Peace Lily grows long flower stalks which look like an elegant white crane when the apical buds first bloom. The white petal-like parts are actually bracts, which is the characteristics of Araceae plants, such as taro, Chinese taro, anthurium, etc. The corn shoot-like parts in the center are inflorescences, and the papillary protrusions on the surface are the real flowers. 白鶴芋屬多年生草本，原產南美洲，也有數種產於東南亞。園藝栽培有多種白鶴芋屬原種與雜交種，皆通稱白鶴芋。具短根莖。有株高150 cm的大葉品種，也有僅20~30cm的袖珍品種。根出葉叢生，橢圓形或長橢圓形。佛焰花序自葉腋抽出而高出葉面，佛焰苞白色；肉穗花序柱狀，白色至乳黃色。

對土壤沒有嚴格的要求，適宜在有肥力、土質鬆散、腐植質豐富且排水通暢的砂質壤土中生長，不喜黏重的土壤。喜溫暖，能忍受較高的溫度，不能抵禦極度的寒冷。不耐旱，在高溫生長季節需要盆土維持潮濕狀態，但不可積水以免根腐爛。以分株繁殖。

It’s not picky on soils, but prefers fertile, loose, well-drained and richly-humic sandy loams but not sticky soils. It responds well to hot conditions, but not cold hardy. Not drought-tolerant, the potting soils need to be kept moist all the time during the growth period in hot season, but avoid waterlogging in the root. Propagated by ramets.

佛燄苞潔白美麗，部份品種有香味。可作庭園遮蔭區地被植物、小品盆栽、大型室內盆栽、組合盆栽、插花材料、水耕種植。

The plant grows white and showy spathes; some varieties also produce fragrant spathes. It’s a great groundcover, and a houseplant grown in small or large pots or in a mixed planter; used as flower arrangement materials, and hydroponic in the shades of gardens.
