沿階草屬多年生草本，是原產東、南亞的沿階草矮性園藝品種。乳白色根系發達，幾乎無莖。植株矮小，簇生成半球狀。叢生狹線形葉，葉尖鈍，葉緣粗糙，葉色深綠。總狀花序，花約10朵，花莖直立，淡紫色至白色。果深藍色。

A perennial herb in the genus Ophiopogon. Shortleaf Lilyturf is a dwarf cultivar native to East and South Asia. It has a strong and milky white root system and is nearly stemless. Plant short and tufted into hemisphere in shape. Narrow linear leaves clustered, apex obtuse, dark green and margin coarse. Racemes of 10 flowers, rachis erect, lilac to white. Fruits dark blue.

對於土壤的要求不高，可以在大部分的土壤中生長，但排水須良好。可全日照或半遮陰，但以半遮陰最好，葉色最濃綠。分株法繁殖。

It’s not picky on soils, but requires good drainage. Suitably grown in full-sun or partial-shade conditions; but partial shade is preferred for the best result of green foliage. Propagated by ramets.

植株緻密低矮，常作日式庭園的地被植物或種植於石組、牆縫、路緣等位置。也可搭配盆景擺飾或作為組合盆栽材料。

Featuring with dense tufts of grass, it’s a typical groundcover plant used in Japanese gardens; or planted between stones, wall joints, in the curbs and so on. It can also be used as material of bonsai or mixed planters.
