大戟屬多肉植物，原產南非。地下有蘿蔔狀發達的多肉質主根，主莖短小，側枝直立或斜伸，株高6~30cm。莖徑2~4.5cm，有波浪狀3稜，逆時鐘旋轉扭曲。分叉的刺長於稜上，最長可達2.5cm。大戟花序排列為聚繖花序，花黃綠色。

A succulent shrub of the genus Euphorbia, native to South Africa. Taproot radish-like and fleshy, main stem short, lateral branches upright or obliquely, 6-30 cm high. Stem diameter 2-4.5 cm, 3 wavy ridges twisted counterclockwise. Bifurcated spines borne on the ridges and up to 2.5 cm long. Cyathium inflorescence arranged in cymes, flowers yellow-green.

栽培：全日照或半日照溫暖環境，介質須排水良好。主根發達，須使用較高的盆器以利根系生長。高溫期生長，可觀察介質乾就澆水，並施用含鉀較高的長效性肥料；低溫期生長停滯，可進行節水。

The plant grows well in full sun or partial sun and warm environment, well-draining soil required. Because of the well-developed taproots, better to plant in high pots to facilitate the growth of root system. A summer grower, water when the soil appears dry and apply long-active fertilizer with higher potassium content. Water less when it grows slowly in winters.

莖旋轉的型態特殊，相當具有觀賞價值。適合用高深的瓦盆種植，任枝條四散伸展，以突顯植物特色。汁液有毒且棘刺較長，擺放位置要避免於被容易碰觸的地方。
