柑橘屬常綠灌木或小喬木,是起源於印度東北部阿薩姆邦的園藝栽培種。株型開張,枝條有刺,嫩枝葉常暗紫紅色。葉卵狀橢圓形,葉色濃綠有油胞,翼葉不明顯,葉緣具波狀淺鋸齒。花單生或2~3枚簇生,腋生與頂生,花白色,外面常紫紅色。果實長圓形,果皮黃綠至淡黃色,果頂圓,有乳突或不明顯,成熟果外皮光滑,具芳香味,一年四季都能結果。
An evergreen shrub or small tree in the genus Citrus. Assam Lemon is a cultivar originated in Assam, northeastern India. Plant type expanding, branches spiny; young branches and leaves often dark purple. Leaves shaped ovate and oval, dark green dotted with oil glands, winged petiole inconspicuous, margin obtuse serrated. Flowers solitary or clustered in 2 to 3, axillary or terminal, flowers white, often purple-red on the outside. Fruits oblong, with yellow-green to pale yellow rind, apical round, with nipples or inconspicuous, ripe fruits exocarp smooth and aromatic, fruiting all year round.
陽光充足處,性喜溫暖,耐旱,不怕熱。對土壤要求不高,但以土層較深厚、土質疏鬆、保濕保肥力強、微酸性土壤最好。以種子、扦插或嫁接繁殖。
It grows well in sunny and warm environment; tolerant to drought and heat. It’s not picky on soils but prefers deeper, loose, moist, fertile, and slightly acidic soils. Propagated by seeds, cuttings or grafting.
可作庭園樹、盆栽觀賞。果可食,榨汁飲用或料理調味用,是印度阿薩姆菜系重要的調味品,用於醃菜調味或加入咖哩。可入藥。可提煉檸檬香精油。切片可放置冰箱除臭用。可製果乾、果醬及果醋。
The plant can be used as a garden tree and a potted ornamental; the fruits can make juice or used as a food seasoning. It’s an important condiment of Assamese cuisine, used for pickles or mixing with curry; medicinal; used to extract essential oil; cut in slices to remove odors in the refrigerator; used to make dried fruit, jam and fruit vinegar.
