楓屬落葉喬木，是臺灣特產青楓的變種。枝幹直立，新枝黃色。葉對生，掌狀5裂，裂片三角狀披針形或三角狀卵形，厚紙質或革質，具粗鋸齒緣，葉色黃綠或金黃是最大特色。花序叢生，兩性花或單性花，雌雄同株或異株，繖房花序，小花黃綠色，不明顯。果為翅果，具有二片翼狀薄翅，呈「人」字形，光滑無毛。

A deciduous tree in the genus Acer. Goldstemmed Maple is a variant of Taiwan’s endemic Acer serrulatum. Trunk erect and shoots yellow. Leaves opposite, palmate, 5-lobed, lobes triangular-shaped lanceolate or triangular-ovate, thick papery or leathery, with serrated margin; the yellowish green or golden leaves are the most distinctive features. Flowers clustered, bisexual or unisexual, monoecious or dioecious, corymbs, flowers tiny and yellow-green, inconspicuous. Fruits are samaras, with two thin wings arranged in herringbone, smooth and glabrous.

宜日照充足，土壤須有良好排水性、含豐富腐植質。喜溫暖濕潤環境，較耐旱，怕積水，耐寒性強。春至秋每季施用一次長效性肥料。採嫁接繁殖，嫁接一般以青楓當砧木。

The tree thrives in sunny, warm and humid environments and in well-drained and richly-humic soils. Cold hardy, tolerant to drought, but not to waterlogging. Apply long-active fertilizers once a season from spring to autumn. Mainly propagated by grafting which generally uses green maple as the rootstock.

葉色鮮明，即使落葉後厚亮黃色的枝條仍具有觀賞價值，可作行道樹、庭園樹或作為盆栽、盆景觀賞。

The foliage plant is highly valued for the bright leaves and thick golden branches which are still ornamental even after defoliation. They can be used as street tress, garden ornamental tree, bonsai or planted in a pot for appreciation.
