木槿屬常綠灌木，國際上已登錄雜交種接近2萬種。樹高2~3m。互生闊卵形至狹卵形葉或掌狀裂葉，葉緣粗鋸齒或近全緣。單花開於葉腋，花瓣有單瓣、半重瓣與重瓣，雄蕊合生筒狀包覆雌蕊。蒴果，但栽培者罕見結果。開花期全年。

An evergreen shrub in the genus Hibiscus, with nearly 20,000 hybrids registered worldwide. Tree height 2-3 m. Leaves alternate, broadly ovate to narrowly ovate or palmately lobed, leaf margin coarsely serrated or nearly entire. Solitary flowers bloom on the leaf axils, with single, semi-double and double petals; connate stamens in cylindrical shape and wrapping the pistil. Capsules, but cultivars rarely fruiting. Flowering all year round.

全日照溫暖環境，高溫高濕可以促進生長。不耐旱，介質略乾就須澆水。耐修剪，不同品種生長速度不同，枝條容易抽長的品種，需較頻繁修剪以維持樹形。容易受捲葉蛾危害，可施用蘇力菌藥劑防治。繁殖使用播種、扦插、空中壓條、嫁接法。

The plant grows well in a full sun and warm environment, and thrives vigorously in high temperature and humidity. Not tolerant to drought, water when the medium slightly dries. Pruning-tolerant, each variety grows in different pace, those who produce elongated branches need more frequent pruning to keep the tree shape. They are prone to the damage of Pandemis dumetana which can be controlled by applying Bacillus thuringiensis toxins. Reproduced from seeds, cuttings, air layering, and grafting.
