冷水花屬多年生草本，原產於越南。地下有匍匐根莖，肉質莖直立，節間稍膨大。對生橢圓形葉，葉前緣有鋸齒，葉色深綠，葉脈間突出並有銀白色塊斑。雌雄異株，聚繖花序，花期6-9月。瘦果小，圓卵形，熟時綠褐色，果期9~11月。

A perennial herb in the genus Pilea, native to Vietnam. Rhizome prostrate, stems fleshy and erect, internodes slightly swollen. Leaves opposite, oval, leaf tip margin serrated, dark green in color, with silvery patches raised between veins. Dioecious, cymes, flowering from June to September. Achenes small, round-ovate, green-brown when ripe, fruiting from September to November.

全日照或半日照溫暖、濕潤的環境，雨季生長迅速，喜疏鬆肥沃的壤土或培養土。不耐旱，須保持土壤潤濕或介質略乾就澆水。枝條過於長伸時可以修剪矮化。以扦插繁殖。

The plant grows in a warm and humid environment with full or partial sun, and thrives rapidly in rain seasons. Loose and fertile loam or potting soil is preferred. Not tolerant to drought, the soil must be kept moist and watered when the medium slightly dries. Trim off overlong branches to keep it dwarfed. Propagated by cuttings.

葉色明亮，在遮蔭地作為地被植物有良好的觀賞效果，亦可作為觀葉盆栽或組合盆栽材料。

A foliage ornamental, suitably used as groundcover in the shades, planted alone in a pot to display the foliage or as material of mixed planters.
