龍血樹屬常綠灌木，臺灣原生，馬來西亞、印度、菲律賓、澳洲等亦為原產地。莖上有明顯的葉痕。線形葉於莖頂旋疊式簇生，葉色濃綠。圓錐花序頂生，花白綠色。圓形漿果，成熟橙黃色，內有一粒種子。

An evergreen shrub in the genus Dracaena, native to Taiwan, Malaysia, India, the Philippines and Australia. With obvious leaf marks on the stems. Linear leaves spirally clustered at the tip of the stem, colored dark green. Panicles terminal, flowers white-green. Rounded berries, ripe orange-yellow, with a seed inside.

性喜高溫，可全日照或半遮蔭。土質不拘，只要排水良好的土壤均能成長。以種子或扦插繁殖。

The plant grows well in hot, full sun or semi-shade conditions. Adaptable to all types of culture soils as long as they are well-drained. Reproduced from seeds or cuttings.

可作庭園景觀樹、室內大型盆栽、綠籬。果枝可供作花材。蘭嶼原住民將番仔林投的葉片作為羊的飼草。

The plant can be grown as garden ornament trees, large indoor potted plants, and hedges. The fruit-bearing branches can be used as flower material. The aborigines of Lanyu used the leaves to feed sheep.
