玉米鬚草屬多年生草本，產地不詳。植株高度30~100cm，有健壯的莖。互生葉片橢圓形有皺摺，末端深裂至葉片中段，葉長可達60cm。雌雄異花長於肉穗花序。

A perennial herb in the genus Asplundia, its origin is unknown. The Plant height 30-100cm, with a robust stem. Leaves alternate, pleated and ellipse in shape, the tip of leaves split halfway in the center, blade up to 60cm long. Monoecious, spadix.

栽培土質以肥沃砂質壤土為最佳，排水需良好。全日照、半日照均可。生長期每2~3個月施肥1次。性喜高溫高濕。以種子或分株繁殖。

Well adapted to hot and wet climates and best grown in fertile and well-drained sandy loam; in full sun or partial sun. Apply fertilizers once every 2 to 3 months during the growth period. Reproduced from seeds or ramets.

葉片與花序造型特殊，整齊皺摺的葉片宛如摺紙扇，花序初生時捲曲的鬚宛如泡麵的造型饒富趣味。幼株通常作為室內盆栽欣賞，大型植株可作為熱帶風情的造景使用。

An attractive ornamental for the unique foliage and inflorescences; the neatly pleated leaves resemble Chinese paper fans and the new inflorescences produce curly tendrils like instant noodles. The saplings are usually displayed in pots indoors, and the large ones can be used in tropical landscape.
