原產於太平洋群島的東加、斐濟、薩摩亞等地。圓形葉片碩大挺直，在樹幹上叢生，像遮陽板排列成綠傘一樣，葉背與葉柄白色，造型優美是極佳的庭園景觀樹。原產地使用葉片做雨傘或扇子，但是在斐濟當地只有酋長有資格使用斐濟櫚扇。新葉豎直，葉面上有整齊的皺摺，這樣的構造有利於盛接雨水，導引水分順著葉柄、樹幹流至樹根。

Fiji Fan Palm is native to Tonga, Fiji, Samoa and other Pacific Islands. The plant bears huge and straight round leaves clustered on the trunk like sunshades arranged into green umbrellas as well as the white leaf underside and petioles, these elegant features make the plant an excellent garden landscape tree. In the place of origin, people use the leaves as umbrellas or fans, but in Fiji, only chiefs have the privilege to use the leaves as fans. New leaves grow upright with neat folds on the surface which help catch rainwater and guide water to flow along the petiole and trunk to the roots.

斐濟櫚屬常綠喬木，原產斐濟、薩摩亞諸島。單幹修長，幹基部膨大。葉頂生；葉柄粗壯稍扁平，圓滑無刺，基部有褐色棕櫚纖維；圓形掌狀葉，先端淺裂，多褶襞，新葉被有褐白色纖毛。雌雄同株異花，肉穗花序腋生，花黃褐或黃綠色。核果橢圓形，成熟紫黑色。

An evergreen tree in the genus Pritchardia, native to Fiji and the islands of Samoa. Trunk solitary and slender with swollen base. Leaves terminal; petiole thick and slightly flat, smooth and spineless, brown palm fibers occurring at the base; leaves rounded palm-shaped, apex shallowly lobed, fan-like, new leaves covered with brown-white cilia. Monoecious, axillary spadix, flowers yellow-brown or yellow-green. Drupe oval, ripe purple-black.

性喜陽光充足、高溫高濕的生長環境，稍耐寒，較怕旱，不耐蔭。對栽培土壤要求不嚴，以疏鬆肥沃、排水良好的腐植質土為佳。以種子繁殖。

The plant normally grows in sunny, hot and humid environments; mildly hardy, sensitive to drought, and intolerant to shade. Highly adaptable to culture soils as long as they are loose, fertile, humusy and well-drained. Reproduced from seeds.

葉片造型優美可作庭園景觀樹、行道樹、大型盆栽。在斐濟島會使用葉片製作扇子，供酋長使用。

Valued for the beautifully-shaped foliage, it’s commonly planted as garden ornament trees, street trees and large potted plants. In Fiji, the blades can be made into fans for the chiefs to use.
