樹蘭屬常綠灌木或喬木，分布中國華南至東南亞。互生單數羽狀複葉，革質倒卵形小葉對生，小葉有3~5片。圓錐花序腋生，花分為雄花與兩性花，黃色花瓣5枚，花微小，有芳香。橘紅色漿果卵形或球形。開花結果期夏至冬季。

An evergreen shrub or tree in the genus Aglaia, distributed from South China to Southeast Asia. Alternate odd-pinnately compound leaves with 3-5 leathery obovate leaflets in opposite arrangement. Axillary panicles with male flowers and bisexual flowers, 5 yellow petals. Flowers are tiny and fragrant. Orange-red berries are oval or spherical. Flowering and fruiting from summer to winter.

全日照溫暖環境，排水良好的介質栽培，具有耐旱性，露地栽培者於成活後可以不必常澆水，每季施用一次長效性綜合肥料。生長較緩慢，一般不進行強剪，僅剪除參差的新枝葉。繁殖使用扦插與空中壓條法。

Grown in full-sun warm environment, well-drained medium. It’s drought-tolerant and frequent watering is not required after surviving in open fields. Apply long-active compound fertilizers once every season. Hard pruning is not advised owing to the slow growth, only shaggy new shoots and leaves are needed to prune. Propagated by cuttings and air layering.

葉片光亮緻密，耐修剪易萌芽，常作為綠籬使用或修剪為整型樹。花朵芳香，可製作線香或窨茶賦香，宗教上也常用作祭祀香花。木材堅硬，可製作家具。

The plant grows waxy and dense foliage; easy to germinate and tolerant to pruning. It’s often planted as a hedge or trimmed into a topiary tree. Flowers are fragrant and can be made into incense or scented tea, also offered in religious rituals. The hard timber can be used for making furniture.
