金虎尾屬常綠或落葉灌木，原產中美洲。紅褐色枝條柔軟。對生橢圓形葉。總狀花序自枝端伸出，黃色花瓣橢圓形，花葯黃色或紅褐色。蒴果球形。開花夏至秋季。

An evergreen or deciduous shrub in the genus Galphimia, native to Central America. Branches are soft and reddish-brown. Opposite elliptical leaves. Racemes extend from the end of branches with yellow elliptic petals and yellow or reddish-brown anthers. Capsules are globular. Flowering from summer to autumn.

全日照下開花才會豐盛，臺灣北部冬季低溫會有葉片變紅現象，寒流時可能落葉。不耐旱，尤其夏季不能缺水。視栽培應用情況，於冬季進行強剪，促進來年分枝生長，讓開花更繁茂。春、夏季施用一次長效性綜合肥料。繁殖使用扦插法。

Require full sun to boost full blossom. If planted in northern Taiwan, the blades might turn red in severe winter and even shed leaves when a cold front hits. Not drought-tolerant especially in summer. Depending on the applications, hard pruning could be carried out in winter to promote the growth of branches and boost flower blooming in the following year. Apply long-active compound fertilizers once in spring and summer. Propagated by cuttings.

高溫期開花旺盛，遠看黃花串串相當美觀，適合叢植或列植為綠籬，適合維持高度在1公尺，以增加觀賞效果。盆栽可使用直徑7吋以上的盆器栽培，可以單植或與其他草花、盆花組合種植。

Control the plant to grow less than one meter tall for a better viewing experience. It can be planted alone in a pot of seven inches or bigger in diameter, single planting or grown with other grass flowers and potted flowers.
