野牡丹藤屬常綠蔓狀灌木，原產屏東、台東，為臺灣特有植物。枝條長伸時呈蔓狀生長。輪生或對生倒卵狀披針形葉，5條葉脈。圓錐花序頂生，白色至粉紅花。紫紅色漿果球形，完熟時紫黑色。開花結果夏至秋季。

An evergreen vine-like shrub in the genus Medinilla, native to Pingtung and Taitung, endemic to Taiwan. The plant’s stretching branches grow like vines. Ovate-lanceolate leaves are whorled or opposite, with 5 veins. Terminal panicles bear white and pink flowers. Purple-red berries are spherical-shaped and ripe purple black. Flower and fruiting from summer to autumn.

半日照溫暖環境，適合樹蔭下、建築物遮蔭處等位置種植。介質需保水與排水性兼具。不耐旱，介質略乾就澆水。每季施用一次長效性綜合肥料。長伸的枝條較凌亂，可立支柱支撐。繁殖使用播種、壓條、扦插法。

Partial shade, warm environment, suitable for planting under the shades of trees and buildings. The medium soil requires both water retention and drainage. The plant is not drought-tolerant, so water when medium soil becomes slightly dry. Apply long-active compound fertilizers once every season. Long shaggy branches could be fixed and supported by pillars. Using seeding, layering and cuttings to propagate.

臺灣特有植物中具有觀賞價值的種類，葉片造型美麗，花果的觀賞期長，耐陰性強的特性，適合推廣於校園、建築物旁的無陽光照射處種植，可以多株叢植或列植為綠籬。

It’s one of a handful of Taiwan’s endemic plants with ornamental values. The features, such as beautifully shaped foliage, long flower and fruit period as well as high shade tolerance, make it a perfect tree species to plant in poor-lit areas in campus and building surroundings. It can be planted in clusters or as a hedge.
