山菜豆屬的常綠喬木，原產中國海南、廣東、雲南。樹型通直，樹高可達15m以上，分枝角度狹小；樹皮灰色，嫩枝綠色有皮孔。對生1至2回羽狀複葉，小葉橢圓形或卵圓形紙質，葉長5~10㎝、寬3~5㎝，葉色濃綠有光澤，葉緣波浪狀。總狀花序自葉腋伸出，花萼筒狀淺紅色，花冠鐘形黃色，花冠內有毛。蒴果細長形似菜豆，長可達40㎝，內有多數具翅的種子。果實成熟裂，使種子飛散傳播。開花期春季，果熟期夏季。

An evergreen or deciduous tree in the genus Radermachera, native to Taiwan and also distributed in South China and South Asia. Bark taupe. Leaves opposite, oddly bi- or tripinnate; pinnae, pinnules and leaflets all growing oppositely; leaflets oval to ovate. Terminal panicles, flowers white, blooming in spring. Capsules resemble kidney beans, up to 50 cm long, longitudinally cracked when mature. Seeds numerous, flattened and nearly rounded, with thin wings on both sides.

適合全日照與半日照出生長，幼樹耐陰性較強，忌夏季烈日曝曬，適合擺放半日照處，以及室內窗邊或人工光源照明處。不耐旱，介質表面乾或觀察新葉略萎軟時，應即澆水。肥料使用長效性肥，每季使用一次。繁殖以播種法為主，扦插、空中壓條亦能成活。

It’s suitable to grow in full sun and warm environments; the saplings are shade-tolerant and grow fast in humid conditions. The soil is preferably loam with organic matter and good moisture retention. Propagated from seeds, cuttings or by layering.

海南山菜豆幼年期具有耐陰的特性，且葉色油亮濃綠，葉片大小適中疏密有緻，迅速成為新興的觀葉盆栽，商人冀望其生長興旺能帶來好運勢，因此以旺字起名而有旺財樹、綠旺樹、旺旺樹等商品名稱。
