秋海棠屬常綠多年生草質藤本，原產巴西。莖、葉有毛。莖綠色或紅褐色，莖上有明顯的乾枯托葉。具有攀緣的習性，利用莖上節處生長的氣生根黏附支持物攀爬。互生卵形葉有明顯凹入脈紋。雌雄異花，花色粉紅。

An evergreen perennial herbaceous vine in the genus Begonia, native to Brazil. Both stems and leaves hairy. Stems green or reddish-brown, with obvious dry stipules. It climbs with aerial roots growing at the upper node of the stem adhered to support objects. Leaves alternate and ovate, with distinct concave veins. Monoecious, flower pink.
