秋海棠屬多年生草本，原產哥倫比亞和委內瑞拉。灌木狀型態，莖半直立，株高可達1m，側枝具有懸垂的習性，分枝多。互生橢圓形葉，長1~1.5cm，寬約0.5cm，葉緣有鋸齒。雌雄異花，粉紅色或白色，花徑約0.5cm。

A perennial herb in the genus Begonia, native to Colombia and Venezuela. Shrub-like, stems semi-erect, plant height up to 1m, lateral branches often pendulous, much branched. The alternate oval leaves are 1-1.5cm long and 0.5cm wide, with serrated margin. Monoecious, pink or white, flower about 0.5cm across.

The plant normally grows in warm environments with partial sunlight and thrives vigorously in highly humid conditions. They need shades from direct sun in summer and prefers well-drained soils rich in organic matter. Apply long-active fertilizer once a season. Propagated by cuttings.
