松屬常綠針葉大喬木，臺灣特有種。葉5針一束，質軟而細，葉緣有鋸齒，長5~10cm。雄花圓柱形，長約2cm，基部有鱗片數枚，黃色。毬果卵狀圓柱形，長約15cm，寬約8cm；種鱗近於菱形，邊緣直立或略向外反曲，鱗臍顯著，內側種子附貼位置凹陷；苞鱗極小。種子為扁長橢圓形，無翅，長約1cm。

An evergreen coniferous tree in the genus Pinus, endemic to Taiwan. The leaves are in a bunch of 5 needles, soft and thin, 5-10cm long, and margin serrated. Male flowers cylindrical, yellow, about 2cm long, with several scales at the base. Cones ovate-cylindrical, 15cm long and 8cm wide; seed scales nearly rhombic, margin upright or slightly outwardly recurved, umbos prominent, recessed in inner seed attached location; bract scales tiny. Seeds oblong and wingless, about 1cm long.

喜冷涼氣候，耐寒力強。喜排水良好，能適應多種土壤，最宜深厚、濕潤、疏鬆的中性或微酸性壤土。以種子繁殖。

The winter hardy plant prefers cold climate and adapts to a variety of well-drained soils, but it particularly loves deep, moist, loose, neutral or slightly acidic loam. Grown from seeds.

種子可炒食或油炸。松節油可治風濕關節痛，葉治咳嗽。莖幹傷口流出汁液為松脂也稱為松香，有多種工業用途。

The seeds are usually eaten after frying or deep-frying. Turpentine oil produced from the plant can cure rheumatoid arthritis, the leaves can treat cough. The sap from stem wounds is known as rosin which has a variety of industrial uses.
