臺灣特有種，分佈於海拔1,700公尺以上的高山。主枝粗壯，淡綠色幼枝上面稀疏分佈著白色絨毛，長橢圓形厚硬的葉片，葉緣微微向後反捲。白色花朵上分佈著淡淡的粉紅色斑點，像雀斑的模樣清新脫俗。每逢春夏之交的開花期，將阿里山、合歡山等著名高山渲染成粉紅與白色繽紛的花海，堪稱臺灣高山最值得去朝聖的杜鵑花季。

Yushan Rhododendron is endemic to Taiwan and distributed in high mountains above 1,700 meters in height. The main trunk is sturdy and pale green young branches are sparsely distributed with white hairs. Leaves are long oval, thick and hard, and the margin rolls slightly backwards. Faint pink flecks spread on the white petals like freckles, very lovely. Flowering at the turn of spring and summer, popular mountains such as Alishan and Hehuanshan are rendered into a sea of pink and white flowers, which is regarded as the most worthy azalea season in Taiwan's mountains.

杜鵑屬常綠喬木，臺灣特有種，分布臺灣本島海拔1700m以上的高山。主枝粗壯，幼枝上有茸毛。長橢圓狀披針形革質葉互生，常叢生於小枝條先端，葉緣略向後反捲，葉背有白粉狀茸毛。花白色，數朵叢生於小枝條先端；花冠或有散生粉紅色斑點。開花期春夏之交。

An endemic evergreen tree in the genus Rhododendron distributed in the mountains above 1700 m in Taiwan island. Limb thick and sturdy, while branchlets fluffy. Alternate leaves long oval-shaped lanceolate, leathery, often tufted at the apex of twigs, leaf margin slightly backward recurved, with white powdery fluff on the underside. Flowers white, a handful tufted at the apex of branchlets; corolla occasionally scattered with pink flecks. Flowering between spring and summer.

喜全日照或半日照冷涼氣候，耐寒、耐旱、耐風、耐貧瘠，適合酸性土壤。以種子或扦插繁殖。

The plant grows well in full sun and cold climates; preferably acidic soils; tolerant to cold, drought, wind and barren. Propagated by seeds or cuttings.

適合於高冷地區栽培，作為盆栽、綠籬或庭園焦點植物。

Suitable for cultivation in alpine areas as a potted plant, hedge or garden accent plant.
