耬斗菜屬多年生宿根草本，原產北半球各地及歐洲、南非；園藝栽培種類多。根粗壯，圓柱形。莖叢生或單一，直立，被短柔毛和腺毛，枝條柔軟。基生葉為三出複葉；小葉卵形或寬卵形或近圓形；頂生小葉 3 全裂；中全裂片寬倒卵形或卵形，先端 3 淺裂或具不等大小的圓鈍齒。聚繖花序頂生和腋生，花瓣顏有濃紫、鮭粉、亮紫、鮮紅、美桃、藤紫、白等；花蕊黃色。蓇葖果直立；宿存花柱與果約等長。

A rhizomatous perennial herb in the genus Aquilegia, native to the northern hemisphere and South Africa; various cultivars are available in the market. Roots stout and cylindrical. Stems tufted or solitary, erect, pubescent and glandular, branches soft. Basal leaves ternate compound; leaflets ovate, broadly ovate or nearly round; terminal ternate leaflets fully-lobed; mid lobe broadly obovate or ovate, apex 3 shallowly-lobed or obtuse with unequal sizes. Cymes terminal or axillary, petals in various shades of blue, purple, pink, red and white; stamens yellow. Capsule upright; the persistent style is the same length as the fruit.

全日照或半日照環境皆可。夏季枝葉會枯黃，以地下部休眠，直到秋涼後再度發芽生長。休眠期避免盆土潮濕，且應放置在遮蔭處。種子或分株繁殖。

The plant grows well in full sun or partial sun environment. The branches and leaves wither and turn yellow and the underground part going dormant in summer, then germinate and thrive again in cool autumn. Avoid soil dampening and place it in the shade during the dormant period. Reproduced by seeds or ramets.

花形特殊且花色美麗，是冬春季上市的盆花，要種植於避風、避雨處，以增加花朵觀賞壽命。花、葉都適合製作押花。

It’s commonly cultivated as a potted floral ornamental in winter and spring valued for the unique shape and colorful flowers. Advised to shelter the plant from wind and rain to extend the flowering period. The flowers and leaves can be used to make pressed flower.
