雪松屬常綠喬木，原產於喜馬拉雅山。樹皮淡灰色，裂成鱗狀塊片；樹冠塔形至平坦傘形；一年生長枝被細毛，微下垂。葉灰綠色，於短枝上簇生，在長枝上稀疏互生。雌雄同株異花，雄毬花近黃色，圓柱形；雌毬花初為紫紅色，後呈淡綠色。毬果卵圓形至橢圓狀卵圓形，紅褐色。種子上端有闊倒卵形翅。毬果翌年10月成熟。

An evergreen tree in the genus Cedrus, native to the Himalayas. Bark pale gray, with scale-like cracks; crown in shape of a turriform or a flat umbrella; annually growing branches slightly drooping covered with fine trichomes. Leaves gray-green, clustered on short branches but sparsely alternate on long branches. Monoecious, male strobili yellowish, cylindrical; female strobili initially purple-red, and turning pale green. Cones ovoid to oval-ovate and reddish-brown. Seeds with broad obovate wings on the apex. Cones mature in October of the following year.

喜強日照，稍耐陰，耐低溫。以富含有機質排水良好的土壤為佳，在氣候溫和涼潤、土層深厚排水良好的酸性土壤上生長旺盛。種子繁殖，亦可扦插繁殖。

The plant likes strong and direct sun light, slightly shade-tolerant and hardy in cold conditions. It prefers well-drained soils rich in organic matter and grows vigorously in deep acidic soils with good drainage in mild and cool climates. Mainly propagated by seeds, followed by cuttings.

可作庭園景觀樹、盆景。木材堅實，紋理緻密，供建築、橋梁、枕木、造船等使用。種子可供榨油，作工業用油。枝葉可入藥。

Suitable for the use as a garden landscape tree or a bonsai. With solid and dense grain, the wood is an excellent material for construction, bridges, crossties, shipbuilding, etc. Oil extracted from the seeds can be used for industrial use. The branches and leaves have medicinal properties.
