金鯱屬多肉植物，原產美國南部至墨西哥。植株半球形，高20cm，直徑30cm或更大，有16~17條稜。刺座大，中刺扁有鉤，側刺6-7枚。本種是刺略成不規則捲曲的園藝品種。花白色至粉紅色，花徑5~6cm。球形至卵球形果實，果熟紅色。

A succulent plant of the genus Echinocactus, native to the southern United States to Mexico. The plant is hemispherical in shape, 20 cm high, 30 cm or larger in diameter, with 16 to 17 ridges. The areoles are bulky and bear a flat central spike with hook and 6-7 radials. This species is a cultivar with irregular curls. Flowers white to pink, 5 - 6 cm in diameter. Fruits spherical to ovoid, ripe red.

栽培：全日照通風環境下可生長良好，日照充足時可促進開花。為了防止爛根等情形，需採用排水透氣的介質。本種高溫期生長，於夏季觀察到介質乾透時澆水；低溫期休眠，耐寒性強，寒流來時不必澆水。

The plant grows well with full sunlight and good ventilation. Sufficient sun exposure can promote flowering. Plant in draining and breathable soil to avoid root rotting. This species grows at a high temperature and waters only when the soil is dried out in summer; it’s dormant at a low temperature and highly cold-tolerant. Stop watering when the cold current comes.

欣賞刺的園藝品種，新生的刺紅色至粉紅色。全株棘刺豪邁粗曠，以單獨種植擺放欣賞為主。由於刺具有危險性，須慎防幼兒、寵物靠近。果實可以食用。

This cultivar is an ornamental for the spines which are red to pinkish red when young. The whole plant is coated with rustic spines, usually a single-potted ornamental. Because of the dangerous spines, it’s advised to keep children and pets away from it. The fruit is edible.
