虎耳草屬常綠多年生草本，原產中國及日本。全株被毛；具走莖，細長柔弱，紫紅色，落地後又生新株。葉基生及莖生，肉質具長柄，腎狀圓形，邊緣波浪形或淺裂，且有鈍齒，上面綠色，沿脈有銀白色條斑，下面常帶紫紅色或有斑點，兩面被長伏毛。花白色至粉紅、紫或黃色，多朵排成圓錐花序，花莖從葉叢中抽出。花期在2~5月間。蒴果卵形，2室，具2喙，自花柱間開裂，內含種子多數。

An evergreen perennial herb in the genus Saxifraga, native to China and Japan. The whole plant is hairy; with a stolon, slender and fragile, purple-red; plantlets born after the old ones falling off. Leaves borne on the base and stolon, fibrous and long stalked, kidney-shaped round, wavy or lobed at the margin, obtuse toothed, green on the upper surface, silver-white streaks along veins, often purple-red or spotted on the lower surface, long appressed hairs grown on the both sides. Flowers white, pink, purple or yellow, and many arranged in panicles, scapes protruding from the leaves. Flowering from February to May. Capsule ovate, 2-loculed, 2-beaked, dehiscing from styles, containing numerous seeds.

喜半日照陰濕環境，以富含有機質排水良好的土壤為佳。可種子繁殖、分株繁殖、葉插繁殖或走莖繁殖。

Half-sun, shade and moisture conditions, soils rich in organic matter and good drainage are preferred. They can be reproduced by seeds, ramets, leaf cuttings or stolons.

可作為庭園地被植物、盆栽植物。全草可入藥。
