山蘇屬多年生草本，臺灣原生，非洲至玻里尼西亞一帶、澳洲、亞洲熱帶區、東南亞亦有分佈。根莖短而粗；葉自地下莖環狀著生，由中心向四方開展而成巢狀。葉披針形，先端漸尖，全緣微呈波浪狀；葉脈在中肋有明顯突出於葉背；葉色正面翠綠；葉柄短而多肉，黑色，基部被有黑褐色線形鱗片；孢子囊群線形，位於中肋和葉緣之間，由中肋延側脈著生。

A perennial epiphytic herb of the genus Asplenium, native to Taiwan and distributed from Africa, Polynesia, Australia, tropical Asia, and Southeast Asia. Rhizomes short and stout; fronds produced from rhizomes in annular arrangement and spreading outward to create a massive leaf nest. Fronds lanceolate, apex acuminate, entire and slightly wavy; midribs prominently protruding on the underside; frond green on the upper surface; petiole short and fleshy, black, with black-brown linear scales at the base; sori arranged linearly between the midrib and the margin; spreading from the midrib and along the lateral veins.

冬季生育緩慢，夏秋發育快速，喜好溫度介於 20~30°C之間。以孢子繁殖。

Cultivation: The plants grow slowly in winter, but develop rapidly in summer and autumn, preferable temperature between 20-30°C. Propagated by spores.

可做遮蔭處地被植物，室內盆栽、小型盆栽或附生種植。嫩葉可炒食。具藥用，全草清熱解毒。

The plant can be used as shade groundcover, planted in pots indoors, in small pots or as epiphyte. Young leaves are edible after frying. A medicinal herb to clear heat and detoxify.
