衛矛屬常綠灌木，原產日本、韓國與中國華北的濱海地區，在臺灣則原生於蘭嶼。小枝4稜形。對生革質倒卵形或橢圓形葉，葉緣有鈍齒。聚繖花序5~12朵花，花白綠色。淺紅色蒴果球狀，成熟裂開露出具橘紅色假種皮的種子。開花夏季，結果夏至秋季。

An evergreen shrub in the genus Euonymus, native to Japan, South Korea, the littoral region of North China, and Lanyu in Taiwan. New shoots are quadrangular in shape. Opposite leathery obovate or elliptical foliage with obtuse teeth on the margin. Cymes, a cluster of 5~12 flowers, colored white and green. Light red capsules are globose in shape and cracked to reveal seeds with orange-red arils when ripe. Flowering in summer and fruiting from summer to autumn.

全日照冷涼至溫暖環境，能適應濱海地區強風吹襲。具耐旱性，介質乾才澆水。每季施用一次長效性綜合肥料。生長迅速、萌芽力強、耐修剪，可頻繁修剪整形。繁殖使用播種與扦插法。
