麥門冬屬多年生草本，臺灣原生種。葉線形，先端銳尖，基部漸狹，紙質，葉緣粗糙有鋸齒，葉兩面無毛，上表面為有光澤的綠色，下表面為綠灰色，三出脈，上表面葉脈明顯。花白色，總狀花序直立或斜昇。花期6~7月。核果，熟時由綠轉為紫黑色，果期7~8月。

A perennial herb of the genus Liriope, native to Taiwan. Leaves linear, apex sharp, base narrowing, papery, margin coarse and serrated, glabrous, glossy green on the upper surface, green-grey on the underside, triple-nerved, with distinct veins on the upper surface. Flowers white, racemes erect or oblique. Flowering from June to July. Drupe green and turning purple-black when ripe, fruiting from July to August.

全日照或半遮陰環境皆可。耐陰性強，喜溫暖和濕潤氣候。宜土質疏鬆、肥沃、排水良好的壤土和沙質壤土，略具耐旱性。以分株或種子繁殖。

It can grow in full sun or partial shade environment. Highly drought-tolerant, the plants prefer warm, humid climates as well as loose, fertile, well-drained loam and sandy loam. Propagated by ramets or seeds.

耐陰的特性適合作為遮蔭處的地被，例如：樹蔭或大樓中庭、牆蔭處。也能開發作為植生綠牆的材料。根部可以替代麥門冬作為藥用。

With shade-tolerant property, the plant is cultivated as groundcover in shade locations, such as tree shades, building atriums and wall shades as well as material of green walls. The root is a substitute for Liriope spicata (Thunb.) Lour. as a medicinal herb.
