臺灣特有種，分佈於台東及恆春半島森林中。常綠喬木，幼莖通常包覆紅棕色毛。葉具有長柄，革質，長橢圓形至披針形，先端通常漸尖至銳尖或鈍狀。花多枚，頂生，圓錐花序，具有銹色絨毛；萼瓣披針形，外被銹色絨毛；花瓣白色，倒披針形。梨果橢圓形或球形，具絨毛，花萼宿存。

Taiwan endemic species, distributed in the forests of Taitung and Hengchun Peninsula. An evergreen tree, young stems are usually covered with reddish brown hair. Leaves with long stalks, leathery, oblong to lanceolate, leaf tip acuminates to acute or blunt. Flowers plenty, terminal, panicles with rust-colored villi; calyx sepal lanceolate with rust-colored villi; petals white, oblanceolate. The fruit is a pome shaped elliptic or globose, pubescent, calyx persistent.

喜高溫、高濕、陽光充足的環境，土壤以肥沃的酸性土壤為佳。種子繁殖或扦插繁殖。
