野牡丹藤屬常綠蔓狀灌木，原產屏東、台東，為臺灣特有植物。枝條長伸時呈蔓狀生長。輪生或對生倒卵狀披針形葉，5條葉脈。圓錐花序頂生，白色至粉紅花。紫紅色漿果球形，完熟時紫黑色。開花結果夏至秋季。

An evergreen vine-like shrub in the genus Medinilla, native to Pingtung and Taitung and endemic to Taiwan. It produces stretching branches growing like vines. Ovate-lanceolate leaves with 5 veins, growing in whorled or opposite arrangement. Flowers are pinkish white to with terminal panicles. Reddish-purple berry in spherical shape, ripe purple-black Bloom and fruiting from summer to autumn.

半日照溫暖環境，適合樹蔭下、建築物遮蔭處等位置種植。介質需保水與排水性兼具。不耐旱，介質略乾就澆水。每季施用一次長效性綜合肥料。長伸的枝條較凌亂，可立支柱支撐。繁殖使用播種、壓條、扦插法。

Grown in partial shade and warm environment, shaded under trees or buildings. Medium soil requires both water retention and drainage. Not drought-tolerant, so giving water when the medium becomes slightly dry. Apply long-active compound fertilizers once every season. Long stretching branches may look shaggy, could be fixed and supported by pillars. Propagated by seeding, layering and cuttings.

臺灣特有植物中具有觀賞價值的種類，葉片造型美麗，花果的觀賞期長，耐陰性強的特性，適合推廣於校園、建築物旁的無陽光照射處種植，可以多株叢植或列植為綠籬。

It’s one of several Taiwan’s endemic plants with ornamental values. With features like esthetic leaves, long viewing period of flowers and fruits and high shade tolerance, make it suitable for planting in sunless areas in campus and building surroundings. Could be planted in clusters or rows as hedges.
